College Point is, believe it or not, named after a college – St. Paul's College to be exact. Located in Queens, part of what puts this neighborhood on the literal and figurative map is that it is home to a number of historical architectural structures. These include the First Reformed Church, the Poppenhusen Institute (which provided the first free Kindergarten in America), as well as the Poppenhusen Library, which has remained active in the Queens Library System since it was built in 1904.
Additionally, College Point hosts a number of parks for recreation and sports, as well as an environmental waterfront park – Powell's Cove Park.
